New York Cancer Insurance wants you to know that drinking sugared sodas could make you twice as likely to develop pancreatic cancer than people who do not partake in such beverages.  With statistics like these, who needs any other reason to kick the sugared soda habit?

A recent study found that because sugared sodas require the pancreas to produce increased levels of insulin, this might very well contribute to pancreatic cancer cell development. With over 42,000 people dying from this often times incurable disease in 2009, it seems that making healthier choices in regards to soda consumption is just smart practice.

New York Cancer Insurance would also like you to know that besides sugared soda’s connection to pancreatic cancer, it also can negatively affect your health in the following ways:

  • Soda consumption has been proven to weaken your bones by decreasing the levels of calcium it is allowed to absorb. In fact, children who regularly drink soda are three to four times more likely to break bones.

 

  • Drinking sugared soda on a regular basis will destroy the enamel on your teeth, fostering decay and cavities.

 

  • Individuals who regularly drink sugared soda are more than one and half times more likely to be obese

 

  • Diet soda drinkers have elevated risks for a variety of cancers due to the artificial sweeteners that are used. Several studies over the past several years indicate that sweeteners like saccharin have caused laboratory animals to develop cancers tumors in their bodies and most commonly in female reproductive organs.
